Welcome!
My name is Emily, I have been working as a speech language pathologist for almost 20 years. I began my career working with adults across all of the medical settings - in hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation facilities, and at home. Throughout the first half of my career, I had the opportunity to serve those with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders with a specialty clinical focus on voice disorders, neurogenic disorders, and cognitive disorders related to dementia. I was fortunate enough to eventually also step into the world of pediatrics, helping even the littlest communicators express themselves.
In 2018, I made the decision to leave mainstream healthcare, frustrated by insurance companies and business focused leadership dictating what I was/was not allowed to do for my patients. I took a leap of faith and transitioned into higher education, serving as a clinical assistant professor and medical internship coordinator for the graduate speech language pathology program at UW-Milwaukee, eventually stepping into my current role as Director of Clinical Education.
My passion for clinical care remained and so I opened a private practice, now located in Mequon, where I am accessible to the entire north shore. While my practice has grown to include both the adult and pediatric populations, my clinical focus, drive, and philosophy has not.
I believe in providing holistic, person/family-centered care to those with communication & cognitive difficulties. I believe in a transparent, shared-decision making model - empowering my clients and their families to own their therapy journey, confidently sitting in the driver seat as we navigate their landscape together. My responsibility to all clients is to carefully select, individualize, and employ therapeutic approaches to best meet their goals and maximize their communication outcome, independence, and overall quality of life.
I look forward to meeting you!
